My name is Tiffanni Bowman and I am currently a freshman at College of the Desert; studying Hospitality Management. I graduated from La Quinta High School in 2016, where I was actively involved in the culinary program for four years. I have had the opportunity to cater many private and public events such as the Palm Desert Food and Wine Festival. I was also blessed to earn an internship at the Palm Valley Country Club for a short while where I learned the inner workings of a commercial kitchen and all the work that gets put into making an event possible.
I have had the chance to work along-side Bianca Rae (Channel 3 news anchor) in hosting occasional Blackhawk Showdowns where I spoke in front of crowds of 50 or more people. La Quinta High’s assistant principle Sean Webb granted me the opportunity to travel to different middle schools around the Coachella Valley along with other students to give the incoming freshman a sneak peek of their future in the culinary arts world. As you can see I have had plenty of experience and knowledge of how the kitchen is run and work in my community. |
My culinary experience has been very exciting and knowledgeable. My experience first started in high school when I attended Rancho Mirage High School. I was enrolled in the CAFE program for 2 years. I learned so many things such as sanitation safety, knife skills and much more. We also had events where we feed our fellow school mates and faculty. We even went to events and catered and were able to assist chefs preparing their dishes at the Food and Wine Festival. I am continuing my experience at College of the Desert in their culinary program.
My experience here at College of the Desert is slightly different from when I was in high school. It is nice to be around people who have a similar or same aspiration as you do. We all take it very seriously and help each other learn from our mistakes. My professors or chef instructors teach us such amazing things that I wouldn't learn anywhere else. I have just had a great learning experience and can't wait to continue. |

Lindsay Jordan
My name is Lindsay-Nicole Jordan and I attend The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. I am currently working towards my Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. My graduation date is March 4th, 2016, and after graduation I am moving to West Palm Beach, Florida to start working at the Four Seasons Resort.
My reason for majoring in Culinary Arts are unique to me. I am the oldest of four children and was always in the kitchen with my mom. I have always had passion for being in the kitchen and honestly could not see myself doing anything else.
The honor I hold at school is being group leader of my class. This position is a group elected position. I was nominated by my class and put into this position where I play the role of a leader. This position will remain with me until I graduate in March, unless I give up my role.

Victoria Bowman
My name is Victoria Bowman. I currently attend College of the Desert. I am working towards receiving my AA degree in Culinary Management. I plan on opening up my own restaurant and catering business once I am done with all my studies. Ever since I started learning how to cook I have always wanted to cook to make people happy. Looking at the enjoyment on the faces of those who eat my food, just overwhelms me with joy. I will be graduating from College of the Desert in Spring of 2016 with my AA in Culinary Management.
After I graduate, I plan on continuing my education at the Art Institute of San Diego to obtain my AA in Culinary Arts and well as my BA in Culinary Management.
With all the knowledge I will have, I will find work in the industry and work my way up to my goal of owning my own establishment.
